We offer custom-built seating including banquettes, booths, window seats, benches, and stools tailored to your space. We can handle both joinery and upholstery to streamline the process and ensure the design works seamlessly from the inside out. For built-in kitchen nooks or fitted seating in commercial spaces, we work closely with clients and joiners to get every detail right.
Designs are developed to suit your needs with guidance on materials and finishes to ensure the final piece is both practical and in keeping with your interior. We can match or complement existing furniture and colour schemes, and there is no minimum project size. Turnaround times vary depending on joinery availability, but we aim to complete builds within six weeks of the start date.

Each headboard is made to order in the workshop, giving you complete freedom over size, shape, and style. Whether you want something simple and minimal, softly curved, fluted, or more sculptural, we can help design it from scratch or work from an idea you already have. We use a CNC machine for precision, which is especially helpful for detailed or complex shapes.
We also have a large range of fabrics from trusted suppliers, so if you’re looking for something bold to make a statement or a more subtle option to blend seamlessly with your decor. We can help you choose the correct proportions and finishing touches to ensure your headboard fits perfectly within its surroundings. We also offer delivery and professional fitting, so you can enjoy your new piece without any hassle.

Modern upholstery typically covers furniture made from the 1950s onwards, and we have a particular passion for mid-century pieces. Many of these classic designs benefit from careful frame repairs and restoration before reupholstery, so we often start by giving wooden frames the attention they need to bring them back to life.
The approach is always to improve the piece – firming up cushions that are too soft or adding padding where needed for better comfort. For furniture with sound frames but tired cushions, we also offer replacement cushion inserts tailored to your preference, from feather-wrapped foam to Ultraflex.

Traditional upholstery involves skilled, labour-intensive techniques which have been refined over centuries, mainly used on furniture made before the 1920s. These methods rely on natural materials such as horsehair, coir, flax, jute, and wool to create durable upholstery built to last for generations. Although more time-consuming and costly than modern methods, this approach provides an investment that outlasts foam-based alternatives by decades.
We use techniques that respect the era and style of each piece, combining traditional techniques with modern methods, where appropriate. Before starting work, we carefully assess how the furniture was originally constructed and repair its structure if needed. For full rebuilds or gentle restorations, our goal is to maintain authenticity while updating fabrics to suit your style, whether classic, contemporary, or somewhere in between.

Furniture Restoration
Selvedge Edge offers frame repairs and wood refinishing, mainly for pieces that are also being reupholstered. We can strengthen weakened frames, carry out structural fixes, or refresh a wood finish to suit your preferences. Where possible, we preserve original finishes, but we can also refinish completely if you’d prefer a new look.
Turnaround times are typically 4–6 weeks. We’re always happy to talk through the options and help you decide whether restoration or replacement is the right route for your piece.

Bespoke Cushions
Custom-made cushions add comfort and character to your seating. We make square cushions, bolsters, floor cushions, and lumbar supports in your choice of fabric. These can be included as part of a larger project or ordered individually.
If you are uncertain about fabrics or fillings, we can recommend options that complement your décor and preferences.
